How to Connect a Laptop to Your TV

Easily mirror your screen or extend your desktop for movies, gaming, and presentations.

Method 1: Using an HDMI Cable (Best Quality)

A wired HDMI connection is the gold standard for quality. It ensures zero lag and the highest resolution for your laptop STORAGE of media files.

Step 1: Physical Connection

Locate the HDMI port on the side of your laptop and the back of your TV. Plug the cable firmly into both devices.

Step 2: Source Selection

Using your TV remote, press the Source or Input button. Select the HDMI port number (e.g., HDMI 1) that you just connected to.

Step 3: Display Mode

On your Windows laptop, press Win + P. Select Duplicate to see the same screen, or Extend to use the TV as a second monitor.

💡 Pro Tip: If your laptop is a modern slim model (like a 2024 Lenovo LOQ) and lacks an HDMI port, use a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Ensure the USB-C port supports "DisplayPort Alt Mode."

Method 2: Wireless Connection (Windows Miracast)

If you have a Smart TV, you can connect without any cables using your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1: Network Check

Ensure both your laptop and Smart TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Cast your Screen

Press Win + K on your keyboard. A "Cast" sidebar will appear on the right side of your laptop screen.

Step 3: Pair Devices

Select your TV from the list of available wireless displays. If prompted on the TV, choose "Allow" using your remote.
